I believe a strong woman may be stronger than a man, particularly if she happens to have love in her heart. I guess a loving woman is indestructible.
-John Steinbeck: East of Eden

Game of Thrones similarities: Arya Stark + Brienne of Tarth.
In my honest opinion, Arya and Brienne are quite the same. They are both strong, independent woman who really don’t care how they look and all their lives all they can think about is fighting. I believe if Arya met Brienne, Brienne would be her role model. I’m not sure how to explain it but, I guess in this setting that George M. Martin has created; woman are seen as fragile, docile and compliant. As if we’ve just rewinded the video tape and where back where women had no courtesies, no respect, no nothing. But with Arya and Brienne they demand respect. And they aren’t going to sit around with their frilly, francy frocks and dance around and sing songs about princes. No, they like reality. They don’t mind blood on their hands and their loyalty is hard-won. I respect that. In many areas I believed that both, if put in a different universe (come at me AUs), they could be more extraordinary and be able to harness their talents and to gain the respect from everyone around them. A thing they both deserve. But they are not are there. So they stop dreaming and stick to the facts. They are stuck in Westeros, and it isn’t easy. You get trodden on, called little girl, called a girl and it’s hard to fight when you think your the only one that’s you and that you’re maybe a bit too weird or maybe something’s wrong with you. Boy, if I was them I would not survive. I would rip my skirts up and panic and freak and just plain run away. But they haven’t they stuck to what they are both good at: FIGHTING. And that’s what counts, it’s not bravery, no it’s standing up and fighting even if you have no real cause. And boy, that’s and almighty thing to do. So round of applause to Arya Stark and Brienne of Tarth, you were women born in a different universe.

“There is, in every woman’s true heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.”
